Review of the film The Argument (2020)

For the first third, I couldn't get rid of the feeling that the painting had an unusual pace. And only then did I realize that the reason was hidden in the almost complete absence of episodes of preparation. Taking the plan beyond long discussions, gathering equipment and a team is beneficial for the network. Thanks to this, a long film loses excess ballast and gets the opportunity to better reveal its strengths. More coolly staged fights, crazy concepts, unexpected twists and the like. And these guys blew up a real plane during filming to make it spectacular and beautiful. There are moments when you just sit in a chair from tension and after a moment you rejoice with pleasure. Everything is so cool here.

However, this is a puzzle from that evil series, where exactly half of the obvious and easy-to-clean pieces and parts are filled in one color. If you barely manage to understand the concept of backward movement in time at the end of the film, then you can see the plot twists like mountains on the horizon. As luck would have it, the screenwriter leaves transparent and unambiguous hints here and there for the further development of the story, which are easy to read and immediately turn on the light bulb above your head. Perhaps in this way the team was trying to avoid excessive complexity of the picture or disputes on the networks about excessive twisting. Anyway, it leaves a bad taste when the adrenaline rush of watching recedes.

Unfortunately, the actors are not saving the situation either. And the problem is not that they lack talent or are lazy. The vast majority of them have nothing to play. The local characters are empty and cliched, they manage to move this cart forward, explain the rules of the local game in general phrases and even decorate the dialogues with their presence in the frame. Also, the lack of a name for the main character of the picture clearly hints that the film is not about these bags of bones or their emotions. The plane is booming, and in the frame there are two people who are backwards in time beating each other. After that, I don't want to go back to the story of unhappy love or another boring discussion of the mission. Because this is the kind of picture where the main characters get lost in the scenery. And it doesn't really matter who's sitting in the car during the next action scene.

What should be praised is the work with sound. The sound design is not just epic, but cool and able to successfully emphasize emotionally intense scenes. It also depends on the direction of time. Thanks to this, the moments when the characters move back in time are especially well felt. You feel uncomfortable and it's as if you and the character are moving forward against nature.

"Tenet" is an unnecessarily unbalanced but worthwhile film. It stimulates the viewer to think and look for clues to his solution. And after watching it, it leaves behind pleasant sensations and a light adrenaline rush, like after visiting a fast ride. Yes, this is not a movie that you should go to if you are looking for deeply written characters or stories. But this is exactly the summer blockbuster we deserve. As smart and thoughtful as it is, it also lacks brakes. And I miss it, don't you? https://novostidnja.ru/interesnye-kejsy-csgo-kak-vybrat-vyigryshnyj-variant.html
